Smartweed

Smartweed plants grow along the water’s edge of the wetland. They also grow in the moist area of the upland. The plants bloom from late August to mid-October. Seeds of smartweed plants feed raccoons, geese, ducks, and other birds. The nectar of the smartweed flowers are food for honey bees, bumble bees, and flies.
